Hello and welcome again to the newsletter after a couple of weeks off due to the Christmas break etc.
I hope you have all had a good time and all the best for 2016. As we head into 2016 how many of you would like to play better golf this year?? Remember we are in the shop to help you.
2016 in the Shop
In 2016 we shall be stocking not only Callaway clubs but also PING and Titleist. Demo clubs will be arriving shortly. As always we shall have one of the best stocked Pro Shops in the area for all your clothing and accessories. Remember if we don't have it in stock we shall try and get it for you.
January Sale
Golfers who support me shall always get a better deal as has always been the case. We will be continuing the clothing offers throughout January.
New Years Draw
Can I thank everyone that attended my draw on New Year's Day. Yet again it was fantastic to see the clubhouse so full.
Click here to see a full list of the prize winners.
It was a shame the main prize winner Jo Roach was not there due to illness as I know she has been to every draw I have ever done. Well done though Jo and congratulations to all the prize winners and a big thanks to all who supported it.
Total Prize fund: £1619
Club Presentation Night
For those that attended the Clubs Presentation Night the photos of the winners are now online on the Hornsea Golf Club website. Can I just give a big thanks to Leigh Gawley and his wife Jayne for taking all the photos on the night.
New Years Eve
Now I'm sure a few of you will have been out on New Year's Eve and might have even gone out in fancy dress.
I must mention a couple of our members that came to the Golf Club. Kevin and Debbie Taylor made a great effort with a couple of their friends.
If any of you have any better pictures I would love to see them.
I won't be able to look at you ever again Kev Taylor!!!! Great effort.

Course Updates
Now the weather has been pretty horrible for the last few weeks and the course is really saturated. Every morning as soon as it is light enough the greens staff go out on the course to see if it is playable. With it being so dark in a morning it is usually 8ish before they contact me.
As soon as I know I put it on the top of the BRS booking sheet and on the Hornsea Golf Club Twitter feed which if you don't follow is on the bottom of the Hornsea Golf Club website. I hope this helps.
Trust me although it is so wet and any rain will delay the course being back up and running. Always remember though that the shop remains open as does the clubhouse.
Use of Trollies
We are very luck at Hornsea not to enforce a trolley ban like most other clubs. Unfortunately though we have far too many golfers that could carry that are still taking trollies. Please if you are able to carry make an effort. The course at the moment is so wet, so do the right thing and try and protect your course. For all ride on buggy users damage caused just before Christmas shows that some do not stick to high ground, go around the ropes or keep out of wet areas.
It was only members playing on the day the below pictures are from. Please if you are playing with ride on buggy users who do not take care please tell them as they are spoiling it for the rest.
If you have struggled with your golf in 2015 why not take a lesson from Paul Gibson. Not only will your golf improve you might start enjoying the game much more. He has a number of offers so why not pop in and have a chat with him.

Dear Members,
I am very pleased to inform you that with the full support of the Board and Past Captains of Hornsea Golf Club, Craig Gawthorpe has agreed to become our Club Captain for 2016. Craig was presented with his Captain's jacket and tie in the Clubhouse at 1.00pm on New Year's Day.
If his recovery from injury allows, we are sincerely hoping that the current Vice Captain, Malcolm Parker will be able to take up the Captaincy in 2017 , but as a contingency, will be seeking a 'Vice Captain Elect' to take on the role of Vice during his continued recovery throughout 2016. We all continue to wish Malcolm a full and speedy return to full fitness. I hope that you will join us all in offering Craig, and Lady Captain Caroline Barker, your full support and wish both a happy and successful year in their posts. Best wishes for the season and a prosperous New Year.

Fantasy Race to Dubai
I know many of you enjoyed following all last year's European tour events and those that did the Fantasy League, which was great fun, I have been in touch to see when it starts again. Unfortunately the reply wasn't quite what I was expecting. Let's see what happens.
Jan 4 at 12:00 PM: Thanks for your email concerning the 2016 Fantasy Race to Dubai. Unfortunately, we (Fantasy League) will no longer be running the Fantasy Race to Dubai game in 2016 but have forwarded your email to the European Tour. I believe they are still intending to run the game in a slightly revised format, for which the website will be available in due course. However, I suspect that the first counting event won't be before the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship (21-24 January). All previous entrants (and indeed anyone with a 'My European Tour' account) will be advised by email shortly after the site is put live.
Regards,
Matt Sims
