Good afternoon to you all. As you read this newsletter this week I shall hopefully be back home after having my heart re tuned!! I guess by this time next week I will know if it has worked or not.
Now I know a few people have seen this but I thought I would give you all a bit of a laugh at my expense this week. I saw this video last week and challenged a few people to try and have a go.
Well it was only fair I had a go and here is the video of three attempts I had. Yvonne who recorded me thought it was hilarious!! Now trust me the guy that can do this must have practiced for ages!! Please click on the image or here to watch the video.
I would love to see your attempts.
Be careful though as in one of my goes I managed to hit myself on the head with the clubhead!
Click here to see the expert do it.
SATURDAY CLUB
It was good to see a lot of you joined the Saturday Club last week. It is still not too late to enter and the sheet will be in the shop again on Saturday. Remember just £10 entry and the chance to win some great prizes.
BUNKERS
Yet again this week I have been sent more pictures of un raked bunkers and badly raked bunkers.
Please it is your course.
As mentioned before it really is not hard to leave bunkers as you would like to find them.
TROLLEY ETIQUETTE
Well despite telling people and the club now having a sign by the first tee it is amazing how people just take trollies where they want. Usually the shortest possible route!! I was sent these two pictures on Saturday morning from a member that teed off at 8.12. There was only four groups in front of them. Now when there is a heavy dew on the ground you can really see were everybody goes. As mentioned above it is your course. Please try and look after it. If everyone walked between the bunkers and the green it would soon become worn and we would have lots of complaints about no grass to chip from!! I guess it won't be long though until the ropes are back out again. I am sure when Gareth see's these pictures that might be even sooner.
HULL AND DISTRICT ASSOCIATION
I am pleased to let you all know that last Thursday Hornsea had a win in the Hull & District Association Alliance meeting at Hessle Golf Club.
Gareth Williams and Jim Jeffries did the business for Hornsea with a fine score of 9 under par.
This also improved our position in the Victor Hurdle Cup as we are now just 3 shots behind Hessle.

PICS FROM THE COURSE
The latest picture sent to me was from Chris Faure. He sent this after reading my newsletter last week whilst he was away enjoying himself on a golfing holiday in La Manga.
Stretton Greetings from La Manga. 25 degrees and sunny!
I took this on Tuesday 18th October after pouring rain. Down to two of us as the others bailed out.
Just me and Pat Slaven saw it out and the final few holes were in glorious sunshine!
GREENS
It is an on-going job trying to keep on top of the leaf fall at the moment but trust me every morning all the playing surfaces are cleared of leaves. It was nice to see the greens getting cut by hand earlier this week. On Monday afternoon with it being quite calm and warm the 1st to 5th and 18th fairways and semi rough were sprayed for weeds. As like most of this season it will be weather dependent if it will be able to complete the remaining fairways. A second application of worm suppressant has also been sprayed on the tees with iron for enhanced colour. However as of next autumn the chemical product for this will be banned so alternative methods will have to be sourced. This may include more top dressing and or applications of sulphate of iron. You will I am sure of plenty of other winter works going on also that can be done now the grass has slowed down growing at last. We are still waiting on the tree spade to be repaired as they are waiting for a part from America. We are top of the list to have the work done but the worry is if it gets too wet to do the work. Hopefully with more dry weather forecast we should be ok though.
