Quite apt for most golfers!
I've had a lot of you asking how I'm getting on so here is a quick up date. Even though I'm still yet to play a round of golf on Tuesday I managed to hit a couple of balls. I am starting to feel much better and no longer having the extreme highs and lows with my heart rate. I have even got myself back in the gym a couple of times now. Amazing how quickly though doing nothing for a month how the weight has piled on so I'm back on a mission to get myself fitter again. Might have to do a New Year's Day weigh in again if anyone is interested? I am currently waiting for an appointment to wear a 24 hour heart monitor and the results from that will determine what happens next.
It is good to see people have already started to book for the Bring a Prize, Win a Prize on Boxing Day. Please remember if you play the entry fee is a wrapped prize to the value of £5 or more which you hand in to the shop when you pick up your card.
PITCHMARKS
Please can all golfers follow the lead of many in doing as many pitch-marks as possible, not just one on each green. This will always be an issue at any club so if we could keep it down to a minimum here now the greens are getting a little softer that would be fantastic.
PRESENTATION EVENING
Just another reminder that this Sunday is the Clubs Presentation evening. It starts at 4pm. It would be great to see the clubhouse full celebrating all of this year's winners. Even if you have not won a prize why not come along and support those who have.

It was great to see so many of our ladies getting into the Christmas spirit on Tuesday despite the horrible foggy cold weather. Many made the effort to wear Christmas sweaters etc. Here are a few of them.

FIXTURE LIST 2017
The 2017 fixtures are all available on the club 'app', the clubs website and the booking system. We have however had a few members asking for a hard copy of the fixtures. We have not printed the diary style books for the last couple of years as we have found in the last few years we have thrown a lot of copies away at the end of each year, and it is difficult to ask a sponsor to pay for this. We have however printed a number of calendar style lists for any members not online. These are available from the Professional Shop this week. GENTS SILVER TEE IRON COMPETITION
So I mentioned last week about the ladies having a Silver Tee event and all that played enjoyed it.
Well now there is chance for us all to have a go as Allan Scarlett next year's Captain has come up with a competition for everyone to have a go at.
On Sunday 15th January we are having a Silver tee 18 hole "irons only" competition.
There will be separate individual prizes for gents and ladies.
The more that play the better the prizes.
It will be a 10am shotgun start and the time sheet is up in the Rolston Bar.
GENTS AND LADIES WINTER ALLIANCES
We have good news from both the Gents and Ladies sections. In the Gents East Riding Alliance after 6 events Hornsea are one shot clear of Hessle with Heworth one shot further behind. In the Ladies Alliance at Cottingham on Monday our Hornsea Ladies did really well taking 4 of the 7 prizes on offer with Ginette Evans and Wendy Lockwood winning overall. Really well done to all.
GREENS
Those that have played during the last week will have noticed that the bunker work on the 16th and 17th is coming on and keeping our greens staff busy.
Normal morning duties still continue setting up the course and the never ending task of collecting leaves still goes on!!
I'm sure if any of you would like to give Gareth and his team a hand with the re-turfing work please have a word with him.
