Clocks Are Changing
A quick reminder to all that this Sunday the clocks change. There is usually someone that gets it wrong every year. Let's just hope it isn't Nathan this year as he is opening up.
This is great for all you golfers that like playing in the evening. It might even give some of you, who are struggling with your golf, the chance to take an evening lesson with Paul.
We have taken delivery of a NEW range of junior clubs this week. Fantastic they are too and very reasonably priced.
Knockout Competitions
The knockout entries are now closed and the draws have been done. The sheets along with the rules are up in the gents locker room and for the Ann and Sam there is a sheet in the ladies too. They are also available to see under the members part of the clubs website. Please remember you must have an active competition handicap before you play your first rounds. That means you have played in three or more club competitions or put three or more supplementary cards in in the last 12 months.
Masters Par 3 Competition
Not long now until we hold our very own Masters Par 3 competition. There are still a few tee times available and the sheet is in the Rolston Bar.
European Tour Fantasy League
I was in full panic last Friday morning, as I suddenly realised I hadn't picked my team. I was quite relived when I found there was no event on. So with no event the scores remain the same. So far the following have paid to enter the Hornsea league. Stretton Wright, Dave Bissett, Paul Gibson, Pete Cane, Peter Bridges, Matthew McDonnell, Phil Hargreaves, Dougie Griebenouw, Darrell Slingsby and Dave Egerton. That is 10 out of the 26 that are in the league. Remember the last chance to pay will be the last weekend of March before the Masters starts.
Hull and District Alliance
Many congratulations goes to Paul Sellers and Dave Whitton who won the final event of the year at Hull Golf Club with a great score of 62. Lindsay Ward and Paul Duckworth came fifth with a 63 and Sam Middleton and Mark Cooke seventh with 65.
Unfortunately we could not overturn Hessle Golf Clubs lead in the overall standings as they took the Victor Hurdle Cup for the second year in a row. We shall be trying again next year though. Can I just thank all that have played this year and congratulations to all that have won prizes throughout the season.
It is always nice that the Hornsea players stay back at the last event of the season. Paul Sellers who teed off early had maybe had one or two too many beers before he accepted the first prize at the presentation. Dave Whitton assures me he also played his part.

Tuesday Club
As mentioned earlier the clocks change this weekend which means we are getting nearer the start of the Tuesday Club. Please read the poster for more details.
Caterers Open Night
Last Friday Diego and Julie our new caterers held an open night for members to sample some of the delights they will be tempting us with over the coming months. Very impressive it was too with a fantastic assortment of food on offer.
From what I heard from all that attended I would recommend getting your names down for any function you might want to attend as I am fairly sure they will all be booked up quickly.
Captain's Challenge
Well we are only two games in and I'm gutted as we suffered our first defeat due to a lucky chip in. Our opposition came from long term member David Schofield and Jim Jeffries. In a game when there really wasn't much in it the 12th hole proved to be the turning point.
We were definitely looking favourite to win the hole with both Dave and Jim struggling but from a tricky position beyond the green, Jim somehow managed to hole his chip for a three nett two to win the hole. I was not happy. We never got back in the game after that and in the end due to a missed three foot putt on the 17th we went down two and one.
Can I just thank Dave and Jim though for great company on the course with some good banter. The highlight was Jim getting well and truly talked into hitting a bad tee shot on 16 and losing his ball. Both of them again made very generous donations to the captains charity so thank you for that.
Man Down
I was a little worried on Sunday when I was sent this picture but it isn't as bad as it first looks. It is Lee Guest who after a night out on Saturday apparently was struggling with a bad back so was doing a little yoga. It looks more like he needed a lie down to me.
Greens
There were some great scores last weekend despite what had been done to the greens in the previous week. It always takes a little while for them to settle but Gareth is very happy with the progress so far. A few trees and gorse have been planted between the 7th and 10th along with some heathers down the side of the 7th tee. All fairways have had a trim and the course for the time of year is looking good.
Girls Coaching
Last Saturday was the first of Paul's Girls Coaching sessions. What a great turn out there was too. Some great little swings and some potential great golfers amongst them. Big thanks also go to Christine Gregory who was this week's lady helper. Remember these sessions are available to any girls that might fancy having a go. Please read the poster for more information.
