Night Golf

Can all those that have put your names down for the Night Golf Event on Friday 3rd November please look at the sheet next to the poster in the Rolston Bar as our Lady Captain Sarah has put up a start sheet for you to add your names too for a time and also if you have any guests that want food please also add them to the bottom of the sheet. This will save people having to hang around before they tee off.

This really is going to be a great event so if you fancy a go please add your name to the sheet.

Winter Alliances

After last week’s gents East Riding Alliance at Brough, Hornsea are top of the overall standings. This was helped by a great score of 62 by Nathan Wright and Sam Middleton. It wasn’t good enough to win the day as two pairs managed one better but did see them finish 3rd. Steve Uzzell and Ross Meggison finished with a 67 and it was these combined scores that lifted Hornsea to the top.

Today the gents are at Hessle in the Hull and District Alliance. We really need a good score to lift us up the table as Hessle are now 6 in front of us and we lie in 4th position overall.

Junior Fundraising Am/Am

On Sunday we held the Junior Fundraising Am Am. What a great turn out it was too with 26 teams playing in the shotgun start. The weather unfortunately wasn’t very nice though with a strong wind blowing and rain for the first few holes. It is fantastic to see so many supporting our Junior section, so a big thankyou to all that played or donated prizes. What was really noticeable to me was how many past Junior members came back to support this event which was great to see.

Nearest the pin 12th – Kev Taylor. A well stuck 6 iron he told me!! (Box of balls)

Nearest the pin 17th – Stewart Taylor (Box of balls) Sorry Stewart. You were not at the presentation so I auctioned them and got another £20 for the Juniors.

Finally can I just thank Matt our Junior Captain for making a fantastic speech at the start of the presentation. The poor lad was so nervous but you did a great job. Well done.

European Tour Fantasy League

Well that was nearly a good week for me after picking Garcia as my captain and he won. Unfortunately so did nearly everyone else including Paul Gibson. What made it even worse was that Paul had picked 5 of his 6 players that all did really well and he topped the weekly standings and now has a huge lead overall with only 4 events remaining.

I do think he just about has it in the bag now but the last 4 events are all for big money so you never know. I will certainly not give in!

Steve Uzzell In The EuroPro Tour Final

The HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour season draws to a close this week with the Sky Sports Tour Championship at Amendoeira Golf Resort in Portugal, as the year’s top 60 golfers go toe-to-toe to land one of five coveted Challenge Tour cards for 2018.

The top five players on the Race To Amendoeira Order of Merit at the end of the tournament will earn progression to the second-tier Challenge Tour, but with £22,500 going to the Sky Sports Tour Championship winner, any one of the players could earn promotion.

James Adams won the Clipper Logistics Championship last month and following his first win at the Motocaddy Masters he sits fifth overall – almost £3,000 clear of Neil Raymond in sixth.

All eyes will be on Race To Amendoeria leader Chris Lloyd, who is on the verge of EuroPro Tour history. Not only would a win in Portugal be his fourth of the season, a feat never seen in the EuroPro Tour, he would also collect the lucrative £250,000 four-win bonus on offer.

Lloyd faces stern competition, particularly in South Korean teenage sensation MK Kim, the Bristol golfer’s nearest rival in the Race to Amendoeria.

Whilst Lloyd holds a comfortable cushion of almost £12,000, Kim has written himself into the history books as the youngest golfer to win a EuroPro Tour event at just 16 years old, and added to his first win at the Pentahotels Championship with a second consecutive title at the “FORE” Business Championship.

Only the top 60 on the Race to Amendoeria were invited to the season finale, with just two players unable to take up the opportunity. The 58 golfers competing will be battling for their share of a prize pot of £100,000, more than twice the amount of a regular Tour event.

The 54-hole Sky Sports Tour Championship begins on Tuesday, 24th October at Amendoeira Golf Resort’s Faldo Course. Designed by Sir Nick Faldo with strategic play in mind the 7215-yard par 72 championship course demands careful positioning to score well. Chris Howell, Chairman of Oceanico Group said:

“We are all very excited about hosting some of the game’s brightest talent for the inaugural Sky Sports Tour Championship at Amendoeira Golf Resort.

It’s been a phenomenal season so far, and now we have the top 60 in the Race to Amendoeira finalised, we can look forward to what will be a great week here in the Algarve. I’ve no doubt that our Faldo Course will provide each player with an enjoyable, but stern test.”

The Sky Sports Tour Championship will be filmed for a two-hour highlight package to air on Sky Sports Golf in the UK in November, and on networks worldwide. Spectator entry is free throughout the tournament and live scoring will be available at www.europrotour.com.

Just so you all know a worm cast is classed as a loose impediment and rule 23-1 applies. This is also taken from the Rules of Golf Decisions book

23-1/1 - Means by Which Loose Impediments May Be Removed
