Club Knockouts Please remember that if you’re in the club knockouts you don’t have much longer before the first round is due to be played which is Sunday 13th May. I wonder how many of you will leave it until the last day. Great Result For Seniors Pair Last week Hornsea pair Gordon McGlynn and Peter Acklam had a fantastic result in the Driffield Seniors Open winning the event with a fantastic score of 44 points out of a field of 160 entrants. Well done Gordon and Peter. Scratch League Last week was the first fixtures of the scratch league season. This year there is only two leagues with the first team looking to repeat the success of last year and win Division 1 and the second team looking to compete well in the second division after winning Division 3 last year. The first team had a free week to start but the second team had a tricky game away at Ganstead last Tuesday. The weather for this fixture was awful and I think that might be the excuse some of the team use. Nathan Wright won 5&4 but unfortunately the rest of the team struggled with Ash Dexter, Jon Bickerdike and Joe Palmer all losing. This weeks fixtures saw the first team have their first game of the season last night away at Boothferry with a very strong team out, Luke Robinson, Matty Raybould, Leigh Gawley and Sam Middleton. Look out for the result on twitter. The second team look to bounce back with a game at home against Brough. The team of Nathan Wright, Adam Watts, Ash Dexter and Jon Bickerdike looking to get the team back to winning ways. Junior League Monday night saw the juniors looking to continue last weeks form with another win in the junior league. This week they played at home against Burstwick. Jack Maxey giving 16 shots managed to get a half, Matt McDonnell won 8&7 and Wil Marshall didn’t have an opponent meaning a 2 ½ to ½ win. A great start to the season so far lets hope the lads keep up the strong form and make it all the way through to the final again like last year. Green Fees Just a reminder of another benefit of being a member at Hornsea. Don’t forget you can sign a guest in for just £10 per round. That guest can only be signed in four times at that reduced price in a year though. This is a great saving as our summer green fee is now £35 per round. |
