Golfers having fun in Liverpool
11 past & present Hornsea golfers plus one other from Hessle visited three excellent courses in the Liverpool area last week. High winds made the first two days a real challenge on traditional links courses: Formby Ladies (short but a real challenge - the course that is), and Wallasey Golf Club, just down the road from Hoylake. The conditions made the second day, in particular, a physical and psychological torment for some, with the round (including numerous ball searches in the hay) taking the best part of five hours! But highly recommended nevertheless. Perhaps the late-night out (some later than others!!) in Liverpool City Centre had something to do with the waning scores on the back nine! The final day saw the winds drop and the sun came out as can be seen in the team photo. Delamere Forest Golf Club, near Chester, was an absolute picture with its rolling hills and spectacular views. Very different from last year’s torrential washout. An excellent way to end a great golfing break. Enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Mr Mark Edgar for organising the golf and accommodation. Until this time next year...
