Doing All We Can

Another wet week when the lads out on the course have spent most of it trying to make it playable. All this wet weather though is making certain jobs that need doing really difficult. Leaves which are always a problem from October to Christmas are more of an issue this year with them being so wet. The hand blowers we have just don’t move them and the leaf collector just blocks up straight away when they are wet. The only real alternative is the small tractor mounted blower which is having to be used to clear the main playing surfaces. It is either that or you will be teeing off and putting through 100,000 leaves! This will be why some of you might have noticed slight track marks on the tees etc.

The main outflows on the 5th were in the process of being looked at as I was writing this and yet again the drains are blocked with tree roots. It does make you wonder why so many trees in the past were planted over these as it is becoming a real problem each year. Another slight problem is grass is still growing but obviously it is too wet to cut the fairways and rough etc. It will be done if we ever get a dry spell.
