Gross Results

4 out of the 5 rounds in the Centenary Gold Medal have now been played. The Gross lead table shows it's still all to play for in Division 1 and 3, but in Division 2 is going to be a little harder to catch the leader.

Nett Results

The final round of the Centenary Gold Medal is due to be played on Saturday 5th September. The winners of each division gross and nett will see their names in gold on the Honours Boards and will also be eligible to play in the Stretton Wright Champion of Champions Trophy day on Saturday 10th October, along with any other Trophy winners this year.

Upcoming Competitions

This week is a short week for competitions as we have our greens maintenance starting on Monday 10th August for a 2 week period.

Thursday - Mid Week Stableford

Saturday - Autumn Trophy

For new members this is an annual Open competition, betterball format for players with a handicap of 15 or less. Always a very popular competition for both members and visitors we have a full field once again this year. Tee times are available after the event for members casual rounds.

Sunday - Grays Hospital Cup - individual stableford & Ladies Stableford.

Greens News

Course Update

Gareth and his reduced team are still extremely busy out on the course, this week they will be busy setting up for Autumn Trophy on Saturday and getting the machinery prepped and ready for the greens maintenance starting on Monday. We will try and keep you updated throughout the fortnight on works.

Whilst these are taking place we will have Pro Stableford, non handicap qualifying competitions taking place and as soon as conditions allow qualifiers will be back on. As we all know as long as the weather is with us we will recover much quicker at this time of year and will head into September with the course works done giving us a few more warmer weeks to enjoy both the course and conditions.

Harebells

This week’s flower was found to the left of the 9th near the gorse.

It is called Harebell (Campanula Rotundifolia)

A beautiful little thing.

Foxgloves

Red Kite

Control your ball, conquer the course

Golf is a very seasonal sport. At this time of year, whilst harder fairways can have your tee shots running for miles, getting your ball to stop quickly on the greens can become a bit of a problem!
