Hello Golfers,

Well what a week once again.  Following the government announcement on Saturday and confirmation on Wednesday we are once again closed.  Closure at the club includes; the clubhouse, course and practice areas.  

As soon as we are advised on re-opening we will be in contact with you all but please be prepared that as in May we may still have tight restrictions in place with reduced tee times so please be patient.

We had already decided to postpone the annual club presentation as we are not allowed to arrange any type of gathering.  We hope to re-arrange this celebration of success within the club in the Spring, but will hold off deciding on a date until such time as we can all gather once more.  I will be publishing the winners of all trophies over the next few weeks in the newsletter.

The upcoming Christmas and New Years Eve am am's time sheets would usually be open later this week, rather than cancelling we will, if we are able, organise nearer the date when we know if such events are allowed to take place - fingers crossed they will.  I'm sure everyone will be desparate for some kind of Christmas normality.

Champions of Champions

The Ladies played for the Stretton Wright Champion of Champions Trophy this week, with 10 ladies qualifying for the event.

One lady came in a little upset after her round as she had done her upmost to play well and really wanted to win the trophy for Stret.  Once Nathan had collated the scores I took massive pleasure in heading up to the Clubhouse to let some of the ladies who were still at the Club know the results for the day.  That very same lady had won the competition and there followed more tears from us both.  Congratulations Wendy - he would be very proud x

World Handicap System

So 2nd November finally arrived and the new World Handicap System began.  As England Golf had released predicted information in advance of the start date, we have been fielding queries for the last couple of weeks and when Monday arrived and updates to Handicap Indexes started we braced oursleves for more queries - and sure enough they came! 

Club V1, our handicap software provider and HowDidIDo released their information as promised on Monday but given the amount of information to process for clubs all over the UK we are still receiving updates now.  

There are a small number of members details still causing some headaches but given the closure time we now have these should all be sorted over the next few weeks.  Please bear with us, it is preferable that the software automatically sorts these queries but be assured they are in hand.  If anyone does have an issue receiving their initial allocation please email the office and if we aren't already aware we can look into any query and endeavour to help.  We will not however be able to carry out a handicap index review, any queries regarding reviews should be made in writing for the Golf Committee to discuss in the new year.

As the course is going to be closed we are also required to close the Pro Shop for now.  The Office will be moved back into my home office and work will continue from there.  Should anyone have any queries during this time please email office@hornseagolfclub.co.uk

The Office time will be busy catching up with outstanding paperwork given the hectic season we have had and planning for 2021.  Our Safegolf accreditation can be finalised and Rich will be planning for the Junior Section following our meeting with The Golf Foundation earlier this week.  I also hope to have a week off; this week had originally been planned for now but put on hold given the uncertaintanty on closures.
