Did you all enjoy watching The Masters? What a week for Jordan Spieth. Not bad for a 21 year old!! I wonder how many of you are now inspired to try a little harder with your game this year now the season has started. A little more time practicing and maybe taking the odd lesson or two. All the top golfers do it so why not give it a try.
I managed somehow to stay awake for all 4 rounds until midnight but I must admit Monday was a bit of a write off and a waste of my day off!! I did manage to have a shave though as I couldn't stand the stick Yvonne and Natasha where giving me any longer!! I must confess though that I have yet to lose the stone I wanted too. I shall keep trying though.
If you think a change of Driver or any of your clubs might get you going this year don't forget it's the Callaway Demo Day next Tuesday 21st April 10 o'clock until 2 o'clock. They have yet again managed to improve how their clubs perform so why not pop to the top practice ground and have a go for yourself.
On the afternoon of Sunday May the 3rd from 1pm until 4pm we are holding an Open Afternoon at the Golf Club where anyone can come to the Club to see what we offer here at Hornsea. Please if you have any friends or family that have ever shown an interest either bring them or encourage them to come. Paul Gibson will be available for giving tips on the swing, there shall be a small putting competition, I shall be taking people to show them a few of the holes and the clubhouse will be open for a drink and the Sunday carvery will be running.
Hornsea will be holding a Pro Am again this year on Friday June 19th. Times are now available to book in the Pro Shop. You can either bring your own Professional or we can find one for you. Please ask in the shop for more details. Click here to see the poster.
It's always nice to hear from members that are enjoying themselves whilst away in other parts of the world. Received this earlier in the week from Gordon McGlynn our Seniors Vice-Captain who is enjoying himself down under in Australia playing golf with his grandson.

HORNSEA TOWN AM AM
Friday 10th April saw Hornsea Town Football Club hold their fundraising Am Am at Hornsea. A great deal of effort went into what was a very successful event which helped raise funds which will go towards the new 3G pitch in Hornsea. Work on the 3G pitch should start this week. Winning the event was a team of old Hornsea Town footballers. Tony Hood, Chris Wilson, Barry Thompson and Mark Edgar. They can be seen collecting their prize from Mike Smith with Dave Topham looking on just wondering if it could have been different if they had had a couple of putts drop!!
SENIORS BETTERBALL OPEN
Tomorrow, Friday 17th will see Hornsea host its first Seniors Open of the year. I shall report on the results next week but just wanted to thank Malcolm Hester for all his hard work that has gone in to organising the event so far.
TUESDAY CLUB
Week 2 and what fantastic weather the players had this week. 38 played this week which is a great turn out with the best score of 44 pts from Willem Smith. About time he produced form like this in a club competition!! In 2nd place was Bill Railton who managed 41 pts. Well played Bill. Kevin Bond managed 40 pts but it wasn't good enough to get in the prizes this week. Hard to believe but nobody from the 38 players managed to hit the green to win the nearest the pin on the 18th!!
Last Friday whilst putting the hole sponsors out for the football am am, Gareth called me across to the pond on the 11th. There where loads of frogs all enjoying themselves. Not sure if they will still be there but they were just near the bridge at the green side if you want to take a look. On that same morning I took this picture of the tower which I thought looked great. Please if you have any pictures old or new that you think are good please send them to me.
Going back to the 11th pond, this week the greens staff have been into all the ponds and cleaned out branches, leaves, weeds, algae etc. Not a very nice job but I hear gave some of the ladies a laugh on Tuesday morning.
Some of the tees have been hollow tinned, top dressed and seeded. Grass is growing now and so all parts of the course will now see regular cutting. Summer is coming!!
HORNSEA 100
Sponsorship forms are now available for you to make a donation and support the three gents that are going to attempt to play 100 holes in a day on Friday June 26th. This will be no mean feat. Joe Palmer, Leigh Gawley and Chris Wilson will be raising money for Dove House and Barnardo's. They would like to raise as much as possible for these great charities so please help and support them. You can also donate by visiting www.justgiving.com/teams/Hornsea100
