Did any of you watch the golf at the weekend from the Omega European Masters? It was great to see two golfers from Yorkshire in the last group out, Danny Willett and Matthew Fitzpatrick. They battled all the way with Danny Willett just edging out Matthew by one shot. Danny is quite a good friend of our very own Steve Uzzell and Matt is in regular contact with Paul Lockwood Jnr as he used to be his Yorkshire foursomes partner. Did you notice the shirt Danny wore on the last day? I have them in stock. Maybe wearing the same shirt might inspire you!
Just had a bit of a move round in the shop. You can now see all the trollies we now have in stock. Electric and push in different colours. Many have bags that match the trolley and all are competitively priced. If you buy a bag and trolley from stock you will receive 20% off the bag while stocks last.
Can all golfers that are in the knockouts please keep an eye on who you play next and the finishing date for that round. Last Sunday I yet again had to disqualify a pair for not playing on time. Can you all note the next round last day is 30th August.
The sheet for the Captains away day to Selby on Thursday 3rd of September still has plenty of places left on it. It's only £20 for coffee and bacon sandwich, 18 holes of golf, a meal after and prizes. The sheet is outside the shop. Please enter in pairs.
Quick reminder to those that book on a Saturday morning that you can have a lie in this week as it's the Autumn Trophy next Saturday. Times after 3 o'clock are available. There are a few early times left in the Autumn Trophy better ball if you are off 15 handicap or less. Please contact the shop if you fancy it.

SCORPIONS AWAY DAY SCARBOROUGH NORTH CLIFF
We played our 18-hole competition in dry weather in the morning. There was rain for the 9-hole competition in the afternoon, but it was completed without much discomfort. The course at Scarborough North Cliff was in fine condition and scoring was good in both competitions. We were well looked after by the catering staff. It was a good day enjoyed by all.
Results:
18-hole Pairs Betterball Stableford
Winners: Kevin Taylor and Neil Jordan 47points
Runners-up: Paul Duckworth and Martin Rowbotham 46points
9-hole Individual Stableford
Scorpions Cup (Current Scorpions) Winner: Brian Hawksworth 21points
Visitors Cup (Other Club Members) Winner: Ron Newey 22points
Can I just thank Tim Hatchett for sending me this report. If anyone has any golf stories etc please send them to me.
OVER 77's AM AM
Last Thursday was the Over 77's Am Am. Big thanks to David Schofield for organising yet another successful event. Even though some teams brought in some ringers the scoring was pretty even all round with every team that played winning a prize. It is a great event and I for one am looking forward to next year already. Brian Thompson also made an appearance and I spoke to him after and he was full of praise for how good the course was and he liked all the changes that have been made. Can I also thank everyone for supporting the auction at the end which raised £144. The leading 3 scores are below.
1st- Mick Copley, Morris Hunter, Alistair Pearson, Garry Markham 85pts
2nd- David Turner, Terry Clappison, Alf Clappison, Pete Wills 84pts
3rd- Barry Nippress, Peter Brown, Steve Wilkinson, Clive Wilkinson 84pts

CAPTAINS CHALLENGE
Our challenge came this week from David Tomlinson and Keith Swann. Captain Alan was away so Malcolm Parker the Vice-Captain stood in. Unfortunately Dave and Keith caught us on quite a good day as better ball we would have been 6 under par. This was good enough for us to win not only the game but also both the front and back 9's. We also managed to accumulate 6 bits. Thanks though gents for a great morning. It was also nice to have Ron Ducker riding around with us on a buggy and giving us all advice!!
