Quick newsletter and no silly picture of me this week. My 87 year old mum had a fall on Sunday and passed away on Tuesday. She was a wonderful lady and taught me a lot. I shall really miss her. I shall be around but as you will all appreciate over the next few weeks there will be a lot to sort out. Stret.
PAUL AND JANES BIG DAY
Well he did it and what a great day it was too. The day started with a lovely service at Beverley Race Course followed by a reception at the Piebald Inn at Hunmanby. Now that is a place you should all visit if you like pies. It was fantastic. The whole day went really well and I shall remember the speeches for a long time!

HULL & DISTRICT ALLIANCE
When you receive this newsletter today, we shall be just about finishing playing at Hessle. Let's hope one of the Hornsea pairs has had a good result and we have closed the gap on Hull. I shall write a report for next week's newsletter. www.hullanddistrictgolf.co.uk
EAST RIDING ALLIANCE
As mentioned last week, it was a great win for Steve and Sam 8 days ago. The next event is to be played at Heworth next Wednesday. www.eryga.co.uk
SLOW PLAY
Slow play. It's the topic of conversation that just won't go away. Tap in to the post-round chat in virtually any clubhouse, and someone, somewhere will be moaning about how long it's just taken to play a round of golf. The irony is that in an era when most us of us are facing more time pressure than ever, a round of golf is taking longer than ever. With the clocks now changed, this recent article from Golf Monthly is worth a read, click here to see it.
STEVE UZZELL EURO PRO TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP
As you receive this newsletter, Steve will about half way through his second round of the Euro Pro Tour Championship. The event is been played at Desert Springs in Spain. You can follow his progress by clicking here.
SENIORS CAPTAIN
Here's the end of season report for the seniors:
Well it's been an eventful time for the section. We have concluded all our external matches and also internal competitions and also held our AGM. As far as the external matches are concerned it was a bit of a mixed fortune. It was a case of the old sporting term 'some you win, some you lose and the rest are stuck in the middle'. Having said that, it has been thoroughly enjoyable regardless of the outcome. In regards to sections competitions they were finally completed yesterday with the Don White Trophy winners being Alan Johnson and Paul Nelson, yes you read that right Paul not only puts on good food he can turn out good scores on the course. They won with a score of 38pts but only beating myself and Jonty Hall after a count back on the last 6. The AGM was held after and the appointments as follows were made.
President- Tony Barnsley (re elected)
Captain- Gordon McGlynn (re elected)
V/Captain- No candidate
Secretary- Malcolm Hester (re elected)
Competition Winners 2015
Captains Cup- Derek Jones
Challenge Trophy- Norman Broxham
Presidents Cup- Malcolm Hester
Away day Cup- George Hornsey
EGGS Cup- Gordon Gell
Winter League- Dave Egerton
Mixed Match- Jan Elder & Mike Guidry
Don White Trophy- Alan Johnson & Paul Nelson
In conclusion, I would like to thank the Board, Stretton, Yvonne and Paul Gibson for your support throughout the year. You have helped to make my role as Captain easier. Special mention must go to Gareth and all the green staff for their hard work in producing such a first class course.
