Firstly can I thank all the members for their kind words this week regarding me losing my mum. I have found it a great help. Her funeral is tomorrow at 1.30pm at the United Reformed Church in Hornsea. I have been very blessed to have had such wonderful parents and I know a lot of you knew them both.
It's a little later than usual with everything that I have had going on but the New Year's Draw Sheet is up. After a lot of deliberation we have kept it at 50p per ticket. The draw will take place as usual on New Year's Day at 1pm. All money paid in will go out in prizes and is usually over £1,500.

CAPTAINS CHALLENGE
Well I'm sad to say our unbeaten run has come to an end. On Sunday I knew we were up against it as the challenge came in the form of Leigh Gawley and Rees Brown. For those that keep an eye on what goes on at the club will know them as two of the best golfers at the club who have fantastic records in both better ball and foursomes over the last few years. Sunday was to be no different. They both turned up in matching gear and no matter how much banter was thrown at them we struggled from the first hole. Leigh was on great form and was round in 68 on his own ball. To make matters worse for us apart from a bit of bad luck on the 11th Rees also played very well and they fitted in so well. In the end they had a better ball score of 62 and we did well to only lose 3 & 2. I'm not going to tell you how many bits they took of us though!! I'm sure they will be quick to tell you if you ask!! It was yet another great morning though even though we lost. I hear Rees took the celebrating a little too far though and maybe had one lager too many!!!!
SHEDS ARE US!!
Well they are at it again. Colin Evans and Peter Bridges are busy now improving the shed near the 8th green. When I played on Sunday they had already stripped the old timber off and after a bit of work to replace the rotten timber it will be clad like the others. I'm sure you will all agree with me they are doing a fantastic job. Well done. As mentioned before, if anyone else would like to help on the course or has any ideas to improve areas please let me know.
RULES NIGHT
On the evening of Wednesday 11th November a rules evening has been arranged to take place in the clubhouse. This sort of event has been held at other local golf clubs and I'm sure you would all benefit from it and learn a thing or two. Click here to see the poster.
SATURDAY STABLEFORD
It was the first week last week. Don't miss out on your chance to win some great prizes.
HULL & DISTRICT ASSOCIATION
Last Thursday Hessle hosted the last fixture of 2015. It is not like the Hornsea team but all pairs struggled in tough conditions apart from Adrian Rosindale and Malcolm Train. They came in with a 7 under 65 and picked up 3rd prize with that. Well played. That score meant we closed the gap on Hull a little more and we are now only 1 shot behind. Hessle had 4 of the 6 prize winners and the winning score. Shows that home advantage definitely helps there!! www.hullanddistrictgolf.co.uk
EAST RIDING ALLIANCE
Yesterday saw the East Riding Alliance held at Heworth Golf Club. I shall do a report on how we got on next week. www.eryga.co.uk
STEVE UZZELL EURO PRO TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP
Well unfortunately Steve didn't have the best of weeks in the final event of the Euro Pro Tour. He finished 1 over with scores of 71, 72, 74 which left him in tied 37th place. 3 players tied on 13 under with Jordon Smith from Bowood wining in a playoff. It will be shown on Sky TV on November 10th at 8pm. To see all the results please click here.

GREENS
This week some of you might have noticed we have aerated half of the green on every hole. This is done so that the other half is fine for playing on. A 12mm (1/2 inch) solid tine has been used to a depth of 200mm (8 inches). This form of aeration is designed to improve drainage, aid air movement and help root development. The greens will be rolled post aeration. The other half of the green will be done once these tine holes have recovered.
