This time next week it will be Christmas Eve. I hope by now you have all got your shopping done but just to remind you we are open every day apart from Christmas Day. We have various offers in the shop so well worth a look. For those of you that are off over the festive period it will be great to see you. Have you all seen Paul's great Christmas offers he has on coaching at the moment. Well worth a look or have a word with him. www.paulgibsongolf.co.uk
To save some of you getting up to book times on this Saturday remember it is Boxing Day next Saturday so it is the traditional 'Bring a Prize, Win a Prize' 13 hole competition. Times for that can be booked in the shop now and are available from 9 to 10.30. The course is closed before due to the 13 hole format. Times are available after 10.30.
New Year's draw tickets are going slowly this year due to bad weather weekends. Remember you have to be in it to have a chance of winning a prize. All of which will be great. I shall be starting to ask you all over the next few weeks so have your money ready!!!
For years there has been an old blanket in the trolley shed. Last week it was taken from there. I would appreciate it if it was returned as soon as possible as we do use it.
For those of you that are CALLAWAY fans over the last few weeks you will have seen me mention that next year I shall be stocking PING and TITLEIST. Do not despair though. Callaway will also be available with some new and interesting products. I think I shall be going for a set of the new Apex irons which really look very nice. Quick date for your diaries. I know it is early and I shall remind you all again nearer the time but I have booked a PING demo day for Tuesday 12th April, 10am until 2pm.

PRIZE PRESENTATION
Last Sunday evening was the 'Prize Presentation' for all sections of the club. Juniors, Ladies, Seniors and the Gents. What a great event it was too with over 90 people attending. Most of the trophy winners were there to collect their spoils for all this year's hard work. Those who didn't, you missed a great night. A few members this year won more than one prize but I have to mention Leigh Gawley who has had quite a special year and went home with a big smile on his face. As well as a number of Club trophies Leigh also won the East Riding Matchplay this year and I know he was disappointed when the trophy wasn't presented on the day he won. I managed to get hold of last year's winner and he let me have the trophy to present on Sunday evening. Quite a surprise for Leigh. I must also mention Joe Palmer who has written up an account of Leigh's great win and it really is a fantastic read. This was also presented to Leigh. Can I just give a massive congratulations to all the prize winners from the last year.
Now many might think the prize giving is quite easy to set up and sort. Trust me it takes hours to get everything organised, engraved, letters sent, trophies cleaned and the table set up. Poor Yvonne on Wednesday had the job of cleaning all the trophies and her hands are still suffering nearly a week later!!!
LEAGUE TO DUBAI
Hornsea golf club golfer David Egerton - "... a dream come true"
2015 Winner of the free prize draw David Egerton, a retired 13 handicapper from Hornsea Golf Club, won the free prize draw in 2015, and with it a trip of a lifetime. He will travel to the UAE with the finalists group and follow the grand finals itinerary affording him return flights, 4* accommodation alongside golf including the par 3 challenge and 3 rounds of golf at the magnificent Arabian Ranches, Yas links, and The Earth course, home of the European tour's season finale at Jumeirah Golf estates. David will be invited to compete not in the grand finals competition but instead in the supplementary event facilitated by the Square Peg Events Staff. Congratulations Dave!

GREENS
A couple of moans as usual about the changes that are going on at the moment, but it's also great to hear so many positive comments. The positive comments definitely out way the negative. With the conditions being so wet there is a bit of damage but Gareth is happy that it will soon recover. One change that nobody has mentioned is that the bank on the back of the old green on the 13th has been lowered significantly so you can now see the front of the green and it should be easier to cut. It was amazing how quickly the turf was lifted, tons and tons of soil removed and the turf put back!! As I write this on Tuesday morning work is still going on but the digger leaves today.
