Good afternoon to you all. I wonder how many of you managed to stay up and watch the US Open. A great win for Dustin Johnson in the end after all the problems he had to endure during the last round with him not knowing if he was going to be penalised or not. I did think his interview was great after though and it is maybe how we should all play as he said it didn't affect him at all as he was just concentrating on each shot trying to move the ball from point A to point B without thinking of anything else. Great if you can do that. It was a little disappointing also to see Lee Westwood and Shane Lowry Both struggle in the last round. I know Nick Tudor won't be happy as he had money on those two!
If anyone saw me on Tuesday I was wired up again with a 24 hour heart monitor just to record a full day of what my heart is up too.
It does make moving around a little awkward as you don't want the leads to come unstuck.
All just a routine check-up. All seemed ok to me but will wait for the results.
It is always nice when visitors pass comments on about the course but we have just had a group here that had played at Ganton and they all said that Hornsea was in better condition and enjoyed playing here more.
Praise indeed I'd say.
Nice to see the clubhouse with the hanging baskets up again outside.
Really does look good and please feel free to dead head them if they need doing when you are passing.
CAPTAINS AWAY TRIP TO HOLME HALL
I could really do with 2 or 6 more people to make the numbers right for this trip.
Please if you fancy it add your name to the list opposite the shop.

HORNSEA 150
Well by this time tomorrow Leigh and Joe will be well into their 150 hole challenge. They appeared on radio Humberside on Tuesday. Click here to hear what was said. Go to 44 minutes in.
A strange way of thinking of it but it's like they said, walking from Hornsea to York or Hull to Scarborough whilst playing golf at the same time!!
I shall be up bright and early for their 4 o'clock start and I shall try and keep you all updated on Twitter as the day progresses. Please if you get chance come up to the club and support them.
I do think they will need as much encouragement as possible as this really will be one tough challenge. Please also remember that they are trying to raise as much money as possible for a very worthy cause. CRY.
You can donate on the below link if you can't make it tomorrow.

EAST RIDING MILLENNIUM SUCCESS FOR HORNSEA
The final of the East Riding Millennium Stableford was played at Hainsworth Park last Saturday. Shaun Prout who had struggled at Hornsea last weekend in the medal after taking a 16 on the 3rd put that behind him and found some form to lift the 3rd division title. I do apologise but this is the best picture I could find of Shaun and it was from a skiing trip not what he wore at Hainsworth!! Nathan Wright managed to take 4th place in the 1st division also. This is the full report.
A dull day with a slight northerly wind welcomed competitors to the ERU Millennium Final at a beautifully presented Hainsworth Park course. A Stableford off full handicap allowance enabled scores to be very good.
Competitors reached the final by winning their own qualifying event on their home course earlier in the year. Proceeds of this event went towards ERU Junior coaching. Many thanks to all who took part.
Div A was won by Hainsworth Park Vice Captain Steve Wilson (9) with 41 pts. Neil Bruce (Scarb S/C) was second on 40pts, Garry Robinson (Hessle) 3rd on 39pts and promising junior Nathan Wright (Hornsea) 4th on 36pts.
Div B was won by Rich Baker (Filey) with 40pts, second was Carl Baldwin (Scarb S/C) with 35pts, 3rd was Alan Heasty (Sutton Park) with 34pts just beating Richard Henriksen (Hull) also with 34pts, on the last 9.
Div C was won by Shaun Prout (Hornsea) with a best of the day 42pts from Ian Platten (Hainsworth Park) on 40pts, David Thrower (Brid Lks) was third on 37pts and Roger Sago (Springhead Park) 4th on 33 pts (Back 9).

SUMMER BALL
10 tickets have become available for the Summer Ball in a couple of weeks after a full table has dropped out. Please contact Caroline, Craig or ring the shop if you would like to come and also support the CRY charity.
Another mixed week weather wise with yet again quite a bit of rain and warm weather which leads to one thing; Grass is growing like mad!! Trust me they are out every day on all the machines but it really is a job keeping on top of it all. I know I cut my grass on Friday and by Wednesday it could do with doing again!! Paul was cutting the 18th green by hand on Wednesday and I must say the greens look fantastic. We have now also received a full survey of the ditch that runs across from the 14th to the 6th and then all the way to the mere which is where all our water goes. This was produced by LDC Ltd and many thanks go to Tony Arnott for arranging it. From this we shall be able to produce a plan of action to try and help reduce the flooding which occurs at times in the top field.
