It is good to see so many of you have filled in the equipment survey this week. When we receive all the results it will help us greatly in the shop to improve the service we already offer. If you haven't done it yet please click on this link. It really does not take long to do.

Now I have a moan again a little later in this newsletter but please when any of the gents enter a competition can you please just remember to do a few things.
Enter your name on the numbered entry sheet, fill in your card correctly including, competition name, your name, handicap, date and entry number. There are boxes on the card to fill in.
The only one that is not important is the time. On completion of play even if you no return put your scores through the computer in the Rolston Bar and then put your card in the box checking that you have signed your card first.
It really is not that hard but it is amazing how many can't get these few things right.
I know I mentioned last week that Ginette Evans had made a hole in one on the 7th but I didn't have a picture.
Well thanks to Sue Howell I do now.
RYDER CUP HORNSEA STYLE
It is great to see so many people have put down for this event.
Mainly times left between 10.15 and 10.52 now.
Don't miss out on a time.
The entry sheet is in the Rolston Bar.
JUNIOR FUNDRAISING AM AM
Unfortunately I can't say the same about this event with only a few times booked so far.
Please support the juniors.
They are the future of the club and it is disappointing to see the lack of support so far.
Again the sheet is in the Rolston Bar. Only £15 per player.
Members and visitors welcome - Sunday 23rd October.
PICTURES FROM THE COURSE
You all know I like to receive pictures taken on the course. This great picture was sent to me last week. It shows Dave Blanchard Jnr taking his time lining a putt up on the 4th green after a very early tee off. I wonder if he holed it??
Now the next picture is not such a good one. It shows Malcolm Train's remote control trolley and clubs in a bunker on the 2nd which he yet again lost control of!!! At least he took the time to rake the bunker after getting everything out though!!!

Costly mistake by Charlie Betts today. He made 41pts but forgot to sign his card. Good news for some though is it still counts for his handicap!! Sorry Charlie, rules are rules.
2's Comp - Roger Scott was the only 2 today and he made that on the par 4 5th hole!! Worth £21!!
Saturday 17th September - Assistant Pro's Trophy
72 entries in this competition. 1 card no name on card, 5 cards no entry number, 2 cards same entry number, 2 cards no date or entry number and 4 cards not signed by the player. Come on guy's yet again it took me 2 hours to finish off this competition. Please just take a few seconds and think about what you are doing.

Nearest the pin on 7th - Ann Rossington
Nearest the pin on 17th - Trish Burleigh
HULL & DISTRICT GOLFING ASSOCIATION
Last Thursday saw the second event of the season. It was held at Springhead and whilst it remained foggy in Hornsea all day the sun shone over Springhead on what was probably the hottest day I have ever played on.
I won't mention how I got on but one Hornsea pair did extremely well producing an amazing score of 57 which won the event by two shots.
Well done Paul Lockwood and Adrian Bird. This great score also brought us back level with Hessle in the overall competition.
I have included a picture of their scorecard which you can see they both did their bit. The next event is at Cave Castle.
I'm short of players for all these events so please if you are available put your name on the sheets which are in the gent's locker room.
FINALS DAY
What a fantastic day this was again with six matches able to play which included two ladies finals on what was a fantastic afternoon. It was just a shame so many of the finalists were in more than one final and have had to play on alternative days. They were all met on the 1st tee by Craig our Captain and all given a lucky ball from his daughter. All matches were closely contended with most going to the last hole, two games decided on the final putt and one had to play an extra hole. It was also nice to do an informal presentation after for all the winners with again Craig been there to present the trophies to the winners. Unfortunately Steve Newton had to go to work so he had to make do with me!! Please find pictures here off all who played and also the winners. Can I just congratulate all that made it to the finals and thanks for making it such a great afternoon. I must also mention the supporters who helped to make the afternoon.
Saturday 24th - Coronation Cup and Brodrick Cup
- Ladies Alison Nicholas Trophy
Sunday 25th - Junior C H Atkin Trophy
Monday 26th - Seniors Eggs Cup
Tuesday 27th - Ladies Alison Nicholas Trophy
Last Tuesday Club
I'm not giving you any greens news this week but instead an old picture of the shop shortly after it was built which I think was about 27 years ago. It is amazing how the trees have grown. Now the reason I have included it in the greens bit is because the golfer practicing is Gareth Williams our course director.
