Pros news

Well we are getting there with the shop but it has been hard going as it has taken us a little longer than we thought to get all the stock put onto the new till. The till though is great now we are all slowly getting the hang of it.

I forgot to mention last week for those that are interested that I had another 24 heart monitor fitted and am now waiting for the results. I feel as though it went well though as I really am much better than before I had my treatment. I have even got myself back in the gym not that I'm losing any weight!

We have a few offers on clubs we have in stock that might be of interest to some of you.

Callaway Big Bertha 5 to PW were £599 now reduced to £450 (One set only)
Cleveland wedges were £99 now only £65 (From stock only)

CALLAWAY EPIC

As mentioned a few weeks ago Callaway have some new woods out called Epic. Now it always amazes me each year how the manufactures improve their clubs and I am always a little sceptical. Well trust me Callaway really do have something a little special with their new range. We have now done a couple of fittings and all I can say is "wow" a 25 yard gain in distance really is quite significant. The only drawback is the high price though that Callaway are charging. Get your pennies saved though if you want to have something special in your bag for 2017.

We do have a demo club that can be used on the practice ground to compare against your own.

Due to popular demand this will not be able to be taken onto the course due to people not returning demo clubs in the past for weeks on end.

EUROPEAN TOUR FANTASY LEAGUE

It was amazing last week how many of us picked nearly the same teams!! Coming out on top this week though was Chris Stephenson with 309,859 pts with Pete Cane just behind him. Taking over at the top of the leader board though is Darrell Slingsby who is quite right with his comment that he is better at this game than the real thing!!! I've now had a 6 people hand over £5 to make our league a little more interesting. Please if you want to be part of it put £5 in an envelope with your name on and hand it into the shop. Cash prizes will be given at the end of the year for the top placed teams.

Please click here to view the table.

Fitting day

CALLAWAY FITTING DAY

For those that definitely want a fitting please contact me direct as slots are limited.

Club news

KNOCKOUT COMPETITIONS

Hard to believe I know but the Knockout entries open tomorrow. We had a good entry to them all last year so let's hope this year is the same. If you click here you can see the rules and also the entry sheet. These sheets will also be available in the clubhouse and you might well have already received an email with them on.

Please fill the sheet in and put it in an envelope with the entry fee and either bring it to the shop or put it in the gents competition box.

TREE SPADE

Well it is bad news again I am afraid, as yet again Ruskins, the company with the tree spade have a major hydraulic problem and cancelled their work with us that should have been done yesterday. We are not sure when they will be up and running again but as before I will let you know when we have more news.

TROPHIES

If any of you won a trophy and took it home with you can you please return it to the Pro Shop as soon as possible as we need to sort out getting all the trophies engraved that were not done.

HULL AND DISTRICT ALLIANCE

Two weeks ago today brought the first alliance after the winter break. 12 Hornsea players headed for Ganstead to try and eat into the 9 shot lead Hessle held from us. The day couldn't really have gone much more to plan with Nathan Wright and Malc Train scoring 64 which was then joined later in the day by Stu Pearson and Steve Teal. This was good enough to secure 2nd and 3rd place respectively with both pairings missing out by a shot to the teaching Pro, Paul Mayoh and A Bell of Hainsworth. Even more good news was that Hessle only managed to score a best of 69 meaning their lead has been cut to 4 with 4 alliances to play. Today myself and the team are at Hainsworth looking to further reduce Hessle's lead.

EAST RIDING ALLIANCE

Last Wednesday took Steve Uzzell with his partner Lee Nicholson and the other pairing of Nathan Wright and Sam Middleton to Malton. Going into the event Hornsea held a slender one shot lead over Hessle and Heworth were a further shot back. Foggy conditions meant for tough scoring throughout the day with 66 the winning score from a home club pairing. Nathan and Sam had the better of the 2 Hornsea scores with 68 which was well backed up by Steve and Lee who scored 71 for a combined score of 139. Both Hessle and Heworth scored 140 combined meaning the lead was slightly extended to 2 shots. Next week the team head to Scarborough South Cliff looking to further extend our lead.

SILVER TEE IRON CHALLENGE

There are still some times available for this event which takes place on Sunday 12th February and is a 10 o'clock shotgun start. Please put your names on the sheet in the Rolston Bar.

LADIES LOCKER ROOM

What a fantastic job Colin and Peter have done so far in the ladies locker room. It is now all stripped out and as I wrote this the ladies were painting it ready for the new lockers to go in. I was amazed how big the room was when it was empty.

BURNS NIGHT

Yvonne and I could not attend the Burns Night but from what I hear everyone that went had a great night. There were quite a few cars left in the car park so I guess the whiskey must have been flowing. I did like the way that Rees Brown had got himself dressed up for the night but by the looks of him when he got home he might have been suffering the following day!

PICS FROM THE COURSE

Now this is one of the best pictures I have been sent from the course. This was taken just as the sun was setting the other evening and was taken by Ray Goldsmith. He also sent me some other great pictures but this I felt was the best one.

One other picture that was sent to me this week was of Tom Walkers club that somehow found its way into one of the trees to the side of the 8th tee!!

I guess he was not happy with his tee shot……

Please keep sending in the images.

NOTE FOR THE SENIORS

Just a quick note for all the Seniors to change a date in your diaries. The Seniors dinner will now take place on 25th March not as the date you will already have. This is due to the change in caterers and will have given them chance to hopefully have settled in by then.
