NEW IN STORE

It's the time of year when the new stock starts to come in so make sure you keep popping in to see what's new. This last week we have had a large delivery from Puma. All very nice it is too.

I mentioned last week about the Cleveland wedge offer. Well we now only have 5 left so if you want to grab a bargain you had better be quick. I won't be able to get any more at the fantastic price of £65.

Quite a few people have looked at the Callaway irons that are on offer, but at the time of me writing this they are still in the shop. They really are easy to hit and I'm sure whoever buys them will find a huge improvement. Don't miss out, there is only one set at the great price of £450.

CALLING ALL OLD BATTERIES

Do you remember me saying last year that if you have any old electric trolley batteries I can take them and get a little money for them that I put on the juniors account. Well there are a few in the trolley shed now so I'm thinking of doing it again. If you have any old batteries please just put them in the entrance of the trolley shed and I shall sort out taking them.

EUROPEAN TOUR FANTASY LEAGUE

Well done this week to Paul Gibson who picked Sergio Garcia as his captain and by doing so this not only helped him to top the Hornsea league this week but also take the overall lead! Coming second this week was another good score was Pete Cane. I don't know what he is doing wrong but it's not like Jon Mitchell to be struggling as he always does well each year. Long way to go though. The overall table is below and this week it was a little harder to pick as not so many of the top golfers are playing. I now have 8 people that have paid £5. If you want to be part of this I really need your money as soon as possible please.

FOOTBALL SUPER 6

Talking of leagues I have not mentioned this for a long time. Probably because I'm doing terribly! Leading at the moment with 264 points is Steve Prout. I'm currently down in 19th position with only 211pts but that is considerably better than Ian Lockwood who has only managed 13pts all season so far!

KNOCKOUT COMPETITIONS

We have already got some entries for this year's knockout competitions. If you click on the link you will find all the rules and also an entry sheet. Please fill this in and put it together with your entry fee into an envelope and either put it in the competition box in the Rolston Bar or drop it into the Pro shop.

Please click here for more info.

HALFWAY HOUSE

A few comments have been made on weekends regarding having to wait for food to be prepared at the halfway house, which means for the later groups there can be up to 3 or 4 lots waiting. The club have decided to trial a text service to order your food at the halfway house when you reach the 9th tee.

The number is 07541 350251. Please make sure if you want food you send a text.

MEN'S HULL AND DISTRICT ALLIANCE

A fantastic score of 62 saw Gareth Williams and Adrian Bird take 2nd place at Hainsworth Park last Thursday.

This was one shot short of the best score of the day from a pair from Cottingham.

We are now 3 shots behind Hessle with 3 fixtures remaining.

They have recently updated the Hull and District Alliance website and results and other information can now be found there. http://www.hullanddistrictalliance.com/

EAST RIDING UNION DINNER

Howard Palmer has done a fantastic job as the East Riding Union of Golf Clubs President this last year and it would be great to see a large turnout of members to the East Ridings Annual Gents Dinner to support him. It is to be held at Willerby Manor on Friday, 31 March. Please see the below poster for more details and if you would like to go please speak to Steve Robinson our East Riding Union Rep.

TROPHIES

I asked last week if anyone who took a trophy home after the presentation could please return it. We still have 6 gents trophies and most of the junior trophies that we really need back at the club. If you have one please return it to the Pro shop as soon as possible or Yvonne will be ringing you to chase you up!

SILVER TEE IRON CHALLENGE

Below is the start sheet for this Sundays Silver Tee Iron Challenge. There are still some times available if you fancy it as you can see from the sheet. Please support it if you can.

Please click here for the start sheet.

LADIES LOCKER ROOM

Work is continuing in the ladies locker-room. After all the hard work that Colin and Peter did ripping out all the old lockers we have now had some of the ladies painting in there. The new lockers have now been delivered and Colin and Peter are busy putting them all in place. It's starting to look very nice.

HORNSEA GOLF CLUB BAND!

A little sneaky as none of the band members know about this, but I was sent these videos last week of four Hornsea members practicing their musical skills. Quite good too as it is only the second time they have played together. I'm sure it won't be long before they will be looking at taking bookings. Please let me know what you think and I'll pass your comments on!

Course news

GREENS

A lot of work at the moment is weather dependent and with the hard frosts and then the wet weather it is not great for getting the turfing finished but they are slowly getting there. Machinery as mentioned before is the next priority making sure it is all serviced and repaired for the coming season. Earlier in the week the tee banks were cut with a flymo. Surprising how grass is still growing in places.

Greens were also hand cut. New hazard stakes are been painted also ready for the start of the season. If anyone played and wondered what was going on around the side of the 12th it was a bit of exploratory work to see if we have a suitable site for pumping sludge out of the pond.

More news on this to follow when the best way to improve the pond quality is sorted.

PICS FROM THE COURSE

Only one picture sent to me this week and is of a little robin that was near the 12th tee.

Very friendly too as Steve Prout got very close to it to take this picture.
