Message from the Chair I was asked by Stret to write a note to everyone to explain the work which is about to commence at the back of the Pro Shop. After it became apparent that the idea of a full scale driving range was not what many of the Members wanted, and that financially it was going to be a big ask, the Board began looking at alternatives. It was still felt that some kind of scaled down practice facility was needed, both to enable Paul Gibson to give lessons, and Members to practice, during wet weather, and later in the day in the winter. With this in mind, the Board have given the go ahead to construct a 3 bay facility at the back of the Pro shop. This is a canvas structure, green with a white lining. It will have 2 single bays, and 1 larger bay for coaching. It will be on a concrete base with mats to hit off. The bays will be lit through from the Pro shop, but not floodlit! Balls will be hit up the current practice area, and some extra tree planting will take place alongside the 18th fairway. I hope you all agree with the Board that this will enhance the Club, and although not giving a full scale income stream, should at least finance its own running costs. The whole project has been given a cap of £12.000, and with as much of the work as possible to be done 'in house', we are confident that this can possibly be brought in under budget. Work should begin in the next few weeks, and I apologise now for any inconvenience caused during the construction.
Many thanks,
Rosie Atkin Chairman
