200 Holes in a Day! I received the following from Joe Palmer last week which is a great read even if what they're proposing is a little crazy! Following on from the Hornsea100 in 2015 and the Hornsea150 in 2016 we are looking to make it a hat trick of endurance golf by completing 200 holes in a day on Friday, 29th June 2018 at Hornsea GC. Spurred on by the recent success of “Night Golf” we’re looking to replicate this by setting up several holes to enable us to play circa 50 holes in darkness before taking on the final 150 or so holes similar to the 2016 schedule! As usual will be raising money for charity; we will once again be supporting CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). A charity close to the hearts of everyone connected to Hornsea where the Fell family have campaigned tirelessly following the tragic sudden death of their son Josh aged 15 in 2011. More recently this silent killer has claimed the lives of two more young men connected to Hornsea; in 2017 James Moorfoot a teacher at the Secondary School aged 28 and earlier this year, Phil Cross aged 43. The 2nd charity we will be supporting will be the 2018 Captain’s Charity - Help for Heroes, a charity close to the incoming Captain Rees Brown given his and his family’s military background and also the charity that the incoming Lady Captain Sue Howell is going to support. As usual we will be asking for support on the day, caddies, spectators, barbecue helpers etc. In 2016 the club really came together and we estimate over 100 people turned out throughout the day with 50 or so walking round and getting merry on the patio as we reached the end. If anyone can help us get some press exposure, local or nationally or wants to get involved with the planning of the day, please get in touch or speak to any of the Pro shop staff. We will be upping our requests for help in the spring of next year, but in the meanwhile please follow us on Twitter @hornsea200 or Facebook (search Joe Leigh). Thanks Joe Palmer & Leigh Gawley
