Stretton's News Well, it was a busy week last week with the Open Am Am, the Pro-Am and then Captains Weekend. The Pro-Am is a great event, and can I thank all the members that played or helped on the day. A special mention must go to Patsy and Wendy for providing us with cream tea’s which has now become a bit of a tradition at the halfway house. A lot of organisation goes into this day, this unfortunately usually means I am quite stressed out before I ever play and end up not really enjoying my golf. I did a few things a little different on Friday though by making sure everything was in place and ready to go well before anyone arrived. This gave me the chance to then have a relaxing breakfast and I even had a chance to hit some balls. This along with the company of a great team helped me perform much better than in previous years as I managed to get the ball round in three-under-par, 69. This for most of the day along with two others was the best score until Danny Dennison, an ex-tour player, shot a 67 in one of the last groups out.

In the end, though, I was very pleased with my performance and how the whole day went. All money raised from this event will go towards improvements to the course. Can I finally thank our Captain Dave for sponsoring my team. |
Another Trip to the PING Fitting Centre On Tuesday afternoon, I was down at the PING National Fitting Centre this time with our Club Captain Dave Blanchard. I am sure if you get a chance to speak to him, he will tell you how much he enjoyed it. A 20-yard gain with his irons and much tighter desperation was pretty impressive to me. Below is a quick video of the room so you get a bit of an insight into what goes on. If any of you are thinking of changing your clubs and like the idea of PING, it is definitely worth booking to go and enjoying the PING experience. It is only in Gainsborough, so it is not that far away. |
Captains Weekend What a great weekend Dave and his wife Sarah provided for all the members last weekend - well done to you both. What a little star Jacob was on the 10th tee too on Sunday. From what I saw, he hit many better tee shots than Dave! Below are all the prize winners along with a quick note from Dave which many of you will have already received from the Club email. In the end, just over £3,000 was raised which is going to be spent on improving the first tee and other projects to improve our club.
