The first thing I must do is make an apology for some of the content in last week's newsletter. Don't ask me how but for some reason I thought the winning team in the Football Am Am included Chris Wilson. I even took the picture at the presentation. It clearly isn't Chris but is Darren Reeve. Sorry Darren for any embarrassment that this may have caused you. You have much more hair than Chris!!
It has been nice to see a bit of sunshine during this last week. Don't forget to take a look at all our summer clothing for gents and ladies. We really do have some nice things in stock and even if your golf is not so good at the moment you could at least look the part!
A special mention this week to Dave Prescott. Whilst playing in the medal on Saturday on the 14th hole he had a little trouble off the tee. He hit a few out of bounds and ended up being 7 off the tee. Things were not looking good but Dave being the competitive man he is didn't give up. He birdied the hole with his 4th ball for a 9 after holing out from near the cross bunkers!! Good effort that Dave. It would be great to hear of any other golf stories that happen around the course.
Don't forget it's the Hornsea 2nd and 3rd Division Open here a week on Saturday (2nd May) so those that get up early to book will not have to do so this Saturday. It's looking like we might have some spare times so if your handicap is between 12 and 24 and you fancy a game in the Open, please ask in the shop to go on the reserves list and we shall try and sort a time for you. Times will be available later on in the day for those not wanting to go in the Open.
Talking of Opens, it is the time of year at Hornsea when all our Open Competitions start and I am looking for volunteers to help with starting and checking cards etc. If you are able to help can you please let either me or Yvonne know or click here to email me.
It is nice when members take time to improve things at Hornsea Golf Club. On Sunday afternoon our Club Chairman Paul Lockwood and our Lady Captain Wendy Lockwood spent the afternoon cleaning and painting the toilets at the halfway house. It would be great to see more people getting involved and improving other areas of our club, not necessarily the toilet areas!
Steve Robinson has also been busy around the patio area. He spent a good few hours planting up the beds on Tuesday and then came up on his bike to water them in on Wednesday evening. Thanks to Steve and also Coletta & Tyson for supplying the plants.
Tickets are now on sale for The Summer Ball. Don't miss out on what is sure to be a great night. Tickets are available from behind the bar and from the Captains. Click here to view the poster.
CALLAWAY DEMO DAY
On Tuesday 21st Callaway came with all their 2015 products. I don't know how they do it but every year they manage to make the game easier with their equipment. I'm sure all that came would agree. If you missed it I shall hopefully be having another one later in the year.

SENIORS BETTERBALL OPEN FRIDAY 17th
Glorious sunshine greeted everyone that played in the Seniors Open last Friday. 140 Seniors from all over Yorkshire came to try and take away a prize.
A huge thanks to all the Seniors that helped on the day but especially to Malcolm Hester who yet again worked tirelessly to make the day a huge success. I sat on the desk checking cards all afternoon and everyone that played had thoroughly enjoyed the course and all that Hornsea has to offer.
60 to 64 age group winners, P Dawson & C Fletches Cottingham 39pts
65 to 69 age group winners, M Dainty & T Fenton Cottingham 41pts
70 and over age group winners, H Briggs & T Edmund Hainsworth 37pts
HULL AND DISTRICT MIXED OPEN GREENSOMES MONDAY 19th
Monday saw Hornsea host this mixed competition. Perfect conditions greeted all that played and yet again the comments about our course where fantastic. A great score of 42pts from a Cave Castle pair was the best score of the day. It was funny listening to some of the pairs arguing before they even went out. Mixed golf for some must be a real test of their relationships!!

2nd C Barker & A Barker Hornsea 41pts
3rd S Adjei & P Adjei Springhead 40pts
4th J Thirkettle & M Thirkettle Brough 40pts

TUESDAY CLUB
Another good score of 40pts by Willem Smith saw him win for the 2nd week in a row. I have my eye on you Will. You won't be off 25 for much longer and you have to play off 24 in the Tuesday Club!! 2nd place was taken by Roger Scott with 37pts and nearest the pin on the 18th with a fine shot to about 12 feet was won by Paul Lockwood.
EUROPEAN TOUR FANTASY GOLF LEAGUE
Well I'm starting to think that Jon Mitchell is getting some inside information!! His team had a great week again this week with most of his players finishing well up the field. He even had the winner of the event Kiradech Aphibarnra as his star player!! Jon is now well clear of all the Hornsea teams that entered. Still plenty of events left though and I won't be giving up like a few of you have!! 17 events have been played, 31 to go so still a long way to go. The current standings are:
