Last Thursday night we had a great night with the juniors, parents and helpers. This event was run in conjunction with The Open and sponsored by HSBC. Many thanks to all who attended. Paul had set up various games and it went down so well we shall be organising another event like it shortly. If you look on the Hornsea Golf Club Twitter feed all the pictures are on there.
Did you all manage to watch any of The Open? What a shame if you had gone up to watch on Saturday but in the end what a great finish. I went to Hoylake last year with Nathan on the Wednesday practice day and then the Thursday. We didn't go this year and I definitely feel as though I have missed something so diary permitting we shall be going again next year. If you have never experienced it I would say it's well worth it. Next year it is to be held at Royal Troon 14th to 17th July.
Can I just say a big thank you to Paul Gibson who has now been at Hornsea Golf Club for just over a year; how quickly time flies. Paul has been a great asset to my staff in the shop and if you have not had a lesson yet you really should as he is very good and knows his stuff.
Talking of time flying, Nathan turned 18 on Monday so if you see him with a pint in his hand he is now legal!! I took him for a game at Alwoodley in Leeds as a bit of a treat for him. What a great course that is. You really need to keep it on the short grass and there isn't much of it!! Check the video below.
On Saturday we held our 36 hole Club Championship. Results are below. It was a shame we didn't have more entries but can I just make a special mention of Pat Slaven who is a couple of years over 21 and he managed to complete the 36 holes easily. Well done Pat. You put a lot of much younger members to shame who all say they can't make it round 36 holes!!!!

GREENS
Now it is a little sad to report but the above picture is definitely from a member as no visitors played on the day this was taken. Hornsea really is in great condition at the moment and things like this really should not happen. Please look after your course at all times.
