Last Thursday the PING representative came to see me. I know for a few years the only clubs I have really stocked is Callaway but I have decided to do a bit with PING next year also. They will be sending me demo clubs and a fitting cart at the start of next year so you will be able to try them.
Talking of what I stock in the shop I just thought I would remind you that even if it is not in the shop I do have accounts with most of the golf companies so I can get just about anything and I shall try to be as competitive on price as possible. Those members and visitors that do support me all know that.
The sheets go up tomorrow for the Christmas and New Year's Eve Am Am's. Friday 18th December and Thursday 31st December. Both 10 o'clock shotgun starts. £10 per player entry fee with all money taken going back in prizes. Both always great events so don't miss out. The sheets will be positioned opposite the shop. I don't know how many of you realise how lucky you are to be members of Hornsea. Last weekend when many local courses were closed we were still open, on full greens, no matts and no trolley or buggy restrictions. Just shows again what a great course we have.
Last Saturday was the Vice Presidents day at Hornsea Rugby Club. This is an event I usually attend but due to other things I couldn't make it. One of our members did though and he looked like he had maybe had one too many by the time he got home! No wonder he wasn't golfing on Sunday!! Sorry Dave but I guess it will make Rees Brown feel a bit better!!!
I thought it was nice on Sunday morning to see three past junior members, Joe Palmer, Mark Peasgood and Dave Peasgood all getting back together for a game at Hornsea. They thought it was about 12 years since the last time they played together. They had a great time too with it all going down to the last hole. Dave eventually winning. I have a feeling it won't be as long again before the re match!!

CAPTAINS CHALLENGE
This Sunday saw Captain Alan and I get back to winning ways in the Captains Challenge. Our opponents this week were Dave Hill and Lee Richardson. I must say it looked like Dave must have had a good night out on Saturday when he turned up. Good job Lee was driving!!! After last week's defeat it was nice to win everything this week. Front 9, back 9 and game. In the end it was a 5&4 victory. Only disappointing fact was that we only managed 4 bits. Great game and great company though with at times some interesting banter!!! Thanks for your donation to the charity boys.
GREENS
I know when I played on Sunday we spent a fair bit of time looking for balls in the leaves. Trust me I know the greens staff are trying their best with hours spent every day moving and collecting them. I know I have just got a few trees in my garden and I can't keep on top of them never mind the thousands of trees out on the course. I follow on Facebook and Twitter quite a few other golf courses from all over and it is a problem that all courses with trees have at this time of year. We really need a couple of good hard frosts to make them all fall and then get them away from all playing areas.
Gareth rang me on Tuesday morning to say work had started on removing some more Leylandii. This time it is the ones on the top of the hill on the 2nd.
On Tuesday Gareth had on trial of a tractor mounted scarifier. The 5th hole fairway if you play was done and the plan is to try it on a few tees and some other areas whilst we have it on demo until Friday. With it been a little damp though it was hard to collect so apologies to anyone that played early on Wednesday.
ROPES
I'm sure those of you that have played this week will have noticed that the ropes are back out. These are put down to keep trollies and buggies away from sensitive areas around the greens. I must say I was a little disappointed when I played on Sunday though as with it been wet you could see that lots of golfers had ignored them and gone straight over them. Please if you see anyone going over the ropes tell them.
SATURDAY STABLEFORD
It is still not too late to enter with many weeks left to get 10 counting scores in. Please pay your entry in the shop.
EAST RIDING ALLIANCE
The East Riding Alliance was held at Heworth Golf Club last Wednesday. Steve Uzzell and Nathan Wright came in with a 66, David Peasgood and Mark Cooke two shots better with 64 which finished tied 4th. These two scores were great for Hornsea and moves us to within 3 shots of the overall lead. The next event is at Hessle next week.
