The 2026 ERUGC Team Championship was held at Burstwick Country Golf on Sunday 10th May with 15 Teams (3 Man) competing over 36 holes for the ‘A.B. Care Bowl’ trophy.
The first 18 holes were played in chilly, very breezy, blustery conditions with ‘Filey’ eventually leading from ‘Hull’ by 7 Shots followed by ‘Burstwick1’ in 3rd position. ‘Hornsea1’ and ‘Hornsea2’ were not far behind in 4th & 5th places respectively
The weather conditions improved somewhat for the second 18 holes but, despite determined challenges from other teams, Filey maintained their dominance with George Davies scoring 65 Gross (Par 70) and Tom Sanghera getting a hole-in-one on the 14th Hole. At the end of the 2 rounds, it was the Filey team of George Davies, Tom Sanghera and Jonathan Pickard who increased their lead to 11 shots and were crowned the 2026 ERUGC Team Champions.
The Hornsea Teams played creditably throughout the day with ‘Hornsea2’ (Rees Brown, Steve Sorenson & Andy Crawford) finishing in 4th place and ‘Hornsea1’ (Leigh Gawley, Steve Dale & Jack Clark) finishing just behind them in 5th place.
